Mara Abbott Returns to the Ladies' Peloton

Twenty-seven year old Boulder, Colorado native and 2010 winner of the ultimate test in women's road racing, the Giro Donne in Italy, Mara Abbott has decided to return to competition with Nicola Cranmer's Team Exergy for the 2013 season.  Abbott, an outstanding climber, has enjoyed both domestic and international success.  A two-time women's national road racing champion, she has also won the Tour of the Gila twice, the Cascade Classic, and was the victor in four consecutive editions of the Iron Horse Classic between Durango and Silverton, CO.  A graduate with a degree in economics from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA.  Abbott, like many other lady cyclists, moved into the sport as an off-season training regimen for her collegiate swimming career.  She's also a certified yoga instructor.

Mara Abbott leads the 2008 Iron Horse Classic.
