Havana Syndrome Compensation

For years there have been complaints from US personnel stationed overseas that mysterious forces were being used to give them headaches, nausea, vertigo and other health issues. Once known as "Havana syndrome", it's now referred to as AHIs, the new acronym for Anomalous Health Incidents

Intensive investigations of the issue have been conducted since the problem became apparent in personnel at the US Embassy in Havana, Cuba in 2016. Possibilities for the issue have included not only waves generated by unfriendly nations but also natural causes, such as the mating cries of the Indies short-tailed cricket. In 2020 experts speculated that health issues were caused by a directed, pulsed radio frequency energy device, perhaps a top-secret development by Russia or China.

A Newsweek article from Sept. 2021 made these remarks about the incidents:

"On August 24, Vice President Kamala Harris went on a trip to Hanoi, Vietnam, after delaying the visit over concerns around Havana syndrome. There was an instance of the syndrome reported in Hanoi that the Biden administration said targeted the U.S. official involved.

In August, at least two U.S. officials stationed in Berlin sought medical treatment after developing symptoms of Havana syndrome. They were the first cases reported in a NATO country that hosts U.S. troops and nuclear weapons.

The syndrome has also been recorded in Colombia, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Austria, a nation that holds a neutral stance.

In 2019, Havana syndrome was also reported in Washington, D.C., when a White House official said they were experiencing the symptoms while walking her dog in a Virginia suburb of the city.

In early 2018, U.S. diplomats in Guangzhou, China reported that an employee at the U.S. embassy in the city had been experiencing symptoms since late 2017.

One of the earliest cases involved a senior CIA officer who had flown to Cuba in secret to meet colleagues. In her room at the Hotel Nacional in Havana in August 2017, the officer awoke to a low humming noise and feeling of intense pressure in her head. When she returned to the CIA headquarters in the U.S. a few days later, the officer noticed she had poorer eyesight and a lack of balance, meaning she couldn't drive or read. The incident prompted then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to shut down the CIA's office in Havana."

It turns out that US personnel and their dependents that qualify will be awarded compensation from $100,000 to $200,000. Since there are personnel from different federal departments, State, Defense, etc. a major effort will be made to assure that those with similar problems will receive similar amounts regardless of their employer. All of this falls under the terms of the Federal Employee Compensation Act.

Scientific observers from outside the US government sphere are skeptical about AHIs. They say that in this case the health problem is "mass psychosis", examples of which include the Salem witch trials of 1692, a "June bug" outbreak in 1962 in a US clothing factory, and a bout of extreme laughter among thousands of students in Tanganyika also in 1962. There are many other examples internationally, most of which involve a disproportionate number of young females.

Update: After more years of investigation a number of US intelligence agencies have cast doubt on the theory that the health issues claimed by Havana Syndrome victims are caused by the Russians or any other country, based mostly on the physical evidence. No mention has been made of how much has been paid out to these victims.

Cute Dogs

There's an article in a popular website that describes the wonderful adventure of  a family that makes a nearly 3000 mile round trip to pick up a husky in a dog pound because a deformity to its mouth makes it look like it's always smiling. Apparently that's a good reason for having a particular dog.

The various breeds of dogs were created, like other domestic animals, for certain purposes. In the case of dogs, huskies were bred to pull sleds and travois or carry packs. The varieties of shepherds were used for herding sheep. Greyhounds were coursing dogs that hunted by sight and were able to run down wild game. Other hounds like foxhounds, coon hounds, blood hounds, etc. hunted by scent. Some very popular breeds were retrievers, Labradors and Chesapeakes, for instance.

Few dogs now are "working" dogs. Hunting with hounds is no longer the popular sport it once was in merry old England. In fact, it's illegal. Greyhound racing became a popular pari-mutuel betting subject but is also now illegal practically everywhere in the US. Law enforcement continues to use dogs to search for and capture suspects.

Rather than use dogs for the purpose for which the breeds came to exist, dog owners now want canines to be cute living fashion accessories and household companions. The dogs most in demand are poodle crossbreds with a comical appearance. We live in a strange world.

Contamination By Invisible Agents

The new machines--type foundry and printing press--ministered to this devouring curiosity by a flood of broadsheets, news letters, almanacs, libellea, pasquils, pamphlets, and books. They spread the news at a hitherto unknown speed, increased the range of human communication, broke down isolation. The broadsheets and brochures were not necessarily read by all the people on whom they exercised their influence; rather each printed word of information acted like a pebble dropped into a pond, spreading its ripples of rumour and hearsay. The printing press was only the ultimate source of the dissemination of knowledge and culture; the process itself was complex and indirect, a process of dilution and diffusion and distortion, which affected ever increasing numbers, including the backward and illiterate. Even three or four centuries later, the teachings of Marx and Darwin, the discoveries of Einstein and Freud, did not reach the vast majority of people in their original, printed text, but through second- and third- hand sources, through hearsay and echo. The revolutions of thought which shape the basic outlook of an age are not disseminated through textbooks--they spread like epidemics, through contamination by invisible agents and innocent germ carriers, by the most varied form of contact, or simply by breathing the common air.

Canadian Navy Sails For Haiti

 Justin Trudeau Is the New Young Face of Canadian Politics | Vogue

 vogue.com

Canadian male model and witless prime minister Justin Trudeau is sending the Canadian Navy to Haiti. Two ships and ninety sailors are being dispatched to the island nation that is troubled by gang violence and the lack of an effective central government. It's unknown exactly what measures the small flotilla will be taking to address the Haitian criminal element, which doesn't seem to have a corresponding naval presence. Intelligence gathering has been mentioned.

Trudeau is experienced with rebellious behavior, having successfully neutralized a truckers' strike in the national capital, Ottawa, by seizing the financial resources of those involved through use of the "Emergency Powers Act" a year ago. He may not be able to similarly confiscate whatever funds the Haitian gangs have but the ships circling the island will surely intimidate the miscreants and probably bring an end to the turmoil on the western end of Caribbean Hispaniola.

Trudeau has also directed $1.8 million to be spent in stopping drug trafficking  across the entire Caribbean and $44.8 million to help fight climate change.

NPR Is All About Solar Power

Susan Ralston

 winningforwomen.com

 Susan Ralston

NPR presents a lengthy article that takes to task professional political operative Susan Ralston for helping local  groups opposed to acres of land being developed as solar energy farms. Miranda Green and Michael Copley have the byline for the article, two veteran liberals that promote the climate change fantasy and accuse anyone that questions the effectiveness of renewable energy as spreading misinformation, a word that appears eight times in the article. Misinformation is the new Orwellian noun that has taken the place of "lie" when it's felt necessary to condemn the statements of another.

Ralston herself apparently makes a living providing her assistance. But it's private money that she and her firm receive. The authors of the NPR article are recipients of government subsidies for advancing the cause of expensive, ineffectual renewable energy that no one has proven to be needed to combat imaginary climate change. In fact, Ralston's work is part and parcel of the "democratic" process, something that's very much under assault by the climate fakirs.

Public Radio and Federal Funding

Federal funding is essential to public radio's service to the American public and its continuation is critical for both stations and program producers, including NPR.

Public radio stations receive annual grants directly from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) that make up an important part of a diverse revenue mix that includes listener support, corporate sponsorship and grants. Stations, in turn, draw on this mix of public and privately sourced revenue to pay NPR and other public radio producers for their programming.

Buttigieg's Boots

Abigail Marone, a spokeswoman for Sen. Josh Hawley tweeted “Lol, are those dress shoes?”

 AP

Who cares what incompetent political appointee pretending to be an administrator Pete Buttigieg has on his feet? And what real meaning does his late appearance at the scene have to do with anything? Bringing in an expert at cleaning up a rail wreck and restoring service would make more sense and guys capable of that are no doubt already there. Why don't we know about them?

Actually funny is this bozo and his Transportation Dept. factotums wearing hard hats and hi-viz vests. None of them are in danger of being struck by anything or they wouldn't be there at all. But if Mayor Pete's belated appearance is meant to polish his image, he should have made the trip a couple of weeks ago.

Women Now Very Close To Running The World, Or At Least Some Of It

It appears that feminists have very nearly accomplished their goal of flipping the patriarchal world into a feminine enterprise. The number of women in charge of governments and corporations has increased dramatically in just a few short years. The list includes:

Several things are noteworthy about this trend. Most female government and political figures are members of the Euro-Colonial states. One reason for this is that generally there are more women than men in the world and in the pseudo-democratic states their votes are courted by male politicians that buy their votes with favorable legislation. Men and women have different priorities and interests, they favor different government policies. In the US, for instance, divorce laws are heavily skewed in favor of women. Women have figured out this phenomenon and realize that they might as well elect women rather than men in the first place.

In other parts of the less cosmopolitan world this tendency has been slower to evolve. In the Middle East, parts of East Asia, Africa and Latin America patriarchy remains the dominant social force. This isn't a misogynistic statement, it's simply a fact. What it means is difficult to say. International competition, economically and militarily, is the focus of government policy. In this competition will the advantage be with the ascendant feminist societies or the traditional patriarchies?

The DEIA Military

Diversity is a strategic imperative critical to mission readiness and accomplishment. We were on site for the 2023 inaugural
@DoD_ODEI Summit as DEIA experts led forums to advance the DEIA and DoD mission -- because our people matter.
 ____________________________________________________

Does the DoD strategic imperative extend to the enemy? If the enemy attacked with a unit made up of teen-age girls or a disadvantaged minority would the US military decline to engage them? Would female warriors be allowed unmolested access to and from the battlefield? Would young, white male soldiers be the exclusive targets of American munitions? How would this all work?

Don't Cross The Red LIne!

 Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the New UN Envoy, Heads Into Her Job Sprinting ...

 passblue.com

CNN  —

The US ambassador to the United Nations said Sunday that China would cross a “red line” if the country decided to provide lethal military aid to Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.

“We welcome the Chinese announcement that they want peace because that’s what we always want to pursue in situations like this. But we also have to be clear that if there are any thoughts and efforts by the Chinese and others to provide lethal support to the Russians in their brutal attack against Ukraine, that that is unacceptable,” Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield told CNN’s Pamela Brown on “State of the Union.”

“That would be a red line,” she said.

 Thomas-Greenfield also reiterated Sunday that the US is prepared to “compete” with China.

“The president has said we see China as the adversary it is. We are prepared to compete with the Chinese, and we are [prepared], when necessary, to confront the Chinese. And that’s what we’re doing. And that’s what we will continue to do to ensure that our national interests are always at the forefront,” she said. The national interests thus include battlefield success for the Ukrainians over the Russians.

Thomas-Greenfield isn't the only one advising the Chinese to stay out of the European special military operation. Others include US Secretary of State Antony Blinken,  EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell, Estonian Foreign Affairs Minister Urmas Reinsalu,   Lithuania’s Gabrielius Landsbergis, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen,  German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and ministers from Denmark, Sweden, Slovenia and Finland.

_________________________________________________

Should the Chinese cross the red line, what will be the nature of the US and European response? Will it be tough talk, financial and economic sanctions, or the detonation of nuclear weapons? It would be nice to know in advance so we can all be prepared for our trip to Heaven or Hades. After all, hero Zelensky says that China's involvement on the Russian side will mean WWIII. Do Americans really want to tie the future of their country, society and children to the machinations of a dwarf foreign megalomaniac and the cabal of vampires that surround a dementia victim over an obscure section of eastern Europe that few Yankees could locate on a map?

Ukraine Privatization

You might be curious how the distribution of state-owned property was accomplished after the rejection of "communism" in eastern Europe in 1991. After all, there was no private ownership of property in the Soviet Socialistic Republics. The property couldn't be returned to the owners of it before the Bolshevik revolution. There seems to be little record of how the countries were divided up. In the case of Ukraine there's this:

Private Property

Ukraine has no laws or decrees governing the restitution of private property, nor has the government made any proposals in this regard.

The progressive Oakland Institute has its own description of the process.

John Jay Said This

 U.S. Chief Justice John Jay: When All Judges Were Originalists ...

history.nycourts.gov

John Jay was a key player in the American Revolution and a co-author of the US Constitution and first chief justice of the US Supreme Court. He had this to say at the time:

 Let us all be mindful that the cause of freedom depends on the use we make of the singular opportunities we enjoy of governing ourselves wisely; for, if the event should prove that the people of this country either cannot or will not govern themselves, who will hereafter be advocates for systems which, however charming in theory and prospect, are not reducible to practice? If the people of our nation, instead of consenting to be governed by laws of their own making and rulers of their own choosing, should let licentiousness, disorder, and confusion reign over them, the minds of men everywhere will insensibly become alienated from republican forms, and prepared to prefer and acquiesce in governments which, though less friendly to liberty, afford more peace and security.

Giving Up Classified Documents

The search for classified documents in the possession of former presidents and vice presidents means what, exactly? First of all, these individuals must have had legal access to them at some time in the past, maybe. But there might be documents containing information that not even a sitting president is qualified to know. Documents generated and held by the military, for instance, may very well be retained by them and kept from the eyes of the president, vice president or other figures in the administration. They might never be released to civilians instead being ultimately destroyed.

The current fixation with classified documents has been an effect of Trump derangement syndrome that has blossomed into an even greater concern of the career nomenclatura than the institutional fear of and disgust with the former president himself. The department of justice has seized the opportunity to not only intimidate former elected big wigs but all future ones.

How this process will play out is unknown. The ordinary citizen, and voter, are already aware that many important policy decisions are made without the knowledge or approval of their own elected representatives. No one was made aware that the Biden presidency would mean an unarmed invasion across the Rio Grande. The careerists in the national security business were very much ready to implement policies that hadn't been approved by the voters or their elected representatives. Except for the highest appointees we will never know the names of those that actually fastened the nuts and bolts of this mechanism.

This is also true of other government agencies and the current trend will be extended even further. The EPA already has a black curtain between it and the general public, hiding future regulations on kitchen stoves and automobiles that could, and should, be debated perhaps for decades.

The digital world was meant, at least in part, to make the access to information easier for everyone. From the standpoint of those in government this isn't necessarily a good thing. The furor over classified documents shows that those pulling the strings don't want any witnesses or records of their work. Future presidents will be inclined to maintain ignorance, in document form, of classified information.

Sensitive Military Bases

 A senior defense official told Pentagon reporters that the US has “very high confidence” it is a Chinese high-altitude balloon and it was flying over sensitive sites to collect information. Indian Express, Feb 10

 Pentagon officials told several news outlets that a Chinese spy balloon hovering over Montana this week had a flight path that took it over several sensitive U.S. military sites. . . . Daily Beast, Feb 2

 Another intruder has breached the home of Air Force One, one of the nation’s most sensitive military bases, Tara Copp, Associated Press, Feb. 5, 2023

The recent episode of what seems to have been the violation of US airspace by a Chinese spy balloon has generated some interesting verbiage. The military bases that the balloon drifted near are described as "sensitive", as if by a consolidated media instruction. What does the adjective "sensitive" mean in this particular context?

The location and purpose of US military installations, not only in the US itself but all over the world, are well-known to anyone paying attention. Anyone who cares knows that the US Air Force operates out of Offutt Air Base in Nebraska, Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota and Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, among scores of others. What is so sensitive about a US military post in western South Dakota?

US military installations are extremely sensitive in the sense that since they employ scads of civilians, any rumor that they may be closed generates a chorus of objections by the locals and their political representatives.

Air Force bases are naturally the places where the most modern, as well as the now obsolete, equipment is stationed and operated. But, once again, none of this equipment is secret except in construction details and operational capabilities, if that. The Pentagon wants potential adversaries to be aware of the lethality of American armaments, a crucial component of their existence. If no one knew of them they would hardly be a deterrent, another word for intimidation.

A concern may be that US bases are a target for potential adversaries or the terrorists that have inspired the inconvenience and expense of the current era. Any sensitivity in this sense is countered, at least in the US itself, by the security measures in place. Base perimeters are fenced and manned by security police who vet those entering. The most serious violations of base security have been caused by individuals assigned duties at the base, something that may be difficult to eliminate. Sensitive communications are encrypted.

In any event, if indeed US military bases are "sensitive" installations, perhaps the military should indicate to us in some way why this is the case and tell us how we, the protection of whom is the ultimate goal of that military, can assist them in countering the sensitivity.

US Downs Big White Chinese Balloon

According to this account, the US military has shot down the big, white Chinese balloon that has been drifting across North America at an altitude of 60,000 feet and driving some people crazy. There is also said to be a similar balloon crossing the sky of South America.

 A large balloon drifts above the Kingstown, North Carolina, US area, with a plane and its contrail seen below it. The United States said it is a Chinese spy balloon. Photo: Brian Branch via AP

 Photo: Brian Branch via AP

What is this all about anyway? The Chinese spokesmen say that the balloon is indeed of Chinese origin but not a government property, being a "private" weather balloon. The US describes it as a "spy" balloon, a device that could actually acquire information on the same level as a satellite. At an elevation of about 11 miles above the earth's surface, the big, white balloon is much closer than the general low orbit of other satellites at about 500 miles altitude. Since it probably is gathering information, it may very well have an advantage over a satellite in orbit due to its proximity, maybe like looking out the window of an American Airlines jet flying from Anchorage to Raleigh, North Carolina. Could a Chinese passenger have equipment in his checked baggage that might discover military secrets hidden in the fields below?

In another take on the situation, there's speculation that the big white balloon might have the capability of infecting the USA with some biological hazard, as the Chinese have already been blamed for the Wuhan flu that has devastated the entire earth.

If the big, white balloon has attached sophisticated equipment to gather and transmit information it's also possible that there could be a human pilot/operator manning that equipment. Shooting the balloon down may very well have killed that passenger, probably a valuable source of information in itself if he were taken alive. No one brought up that possibility.

Furthermore, if a US fighter pilot had failed to puncture the big white balloon would it have been allowed to continue on its way around the world? Was it ever meant to end up back in Chinese hands?

The size and appearance of the big white balloon means that its course across North America could hardly have been meant to be a secret. The thing was simply too obvious. The operation couldn't have been meant as a clandestine intelligence-gathering mission. It seems more likely that it was an opportunity to assess the attitudes and responses of the US government and military. Or it might have been an escaped weather balloon. There doesn't seem to have been any commentary made by the CIA. Maybe it falls outside of their sphere.

It may be unimportant to the general US population and probably meaningless to the US military but the cost of the AIM-9X Sidewinder missile used to let the gas out of the big white balloon is in excess of $420 thousand.

The responses to the big, white balloon relayed through the media mostly reflected anger and dismay that the Chinese should attempt such a violation of national sovereignty and that the US should take serious actions. Whaaaat? It's a balloon, maybe an errant one. The US, the richest and most militarily powerful entity in world history, should express concern over the lost, wandering Chinese balloon, express sympathy to those in charge of it, and perhaps set up a congressional committee to aid the Chinese in their further weather balloon adventures.

It would be of immense interest to have a translated transcript of the conversations at the highest level of Chinese decision-making where the pluses and minuses of this operation were discussed, if indeed such a discussion took place.

The US Marine Corps Hymn

 us marine corps | Fabius Maximus website

 fabiusmaximus.com

From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
of United States Marine.
Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in ev'ry clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job
The United States Marines.
Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.
