It should also be noted that policing is not among the deadliest professions, and is not in the top ten according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Given that there are more than 900,000 sworn officers, and with 128 fatalities (including accidents) reported in 2017, that brings the fatality rate to under 15 per 100,000.
