Canadian male model and witless prime minister Justin Trudeau is sending the Canadian Navy to Haiti. Two ships and ninety sailors are being dispatched to the island nation that is troubled by gang violence and the lack of an effective central government. It's unknown exactly what measures the small flotilla will be taking to address the Haitian criminal element, which doesn't seem to have a corresponding naval presence. Intelligence gathering has been mentioned.
Trudeau is experienced with rebellious behavior, having successfully neutralized a truckers' strike in the national capital, Ottawa, by seizing the financial resources of those involved through use of the "Emergency Powers Act" a year ago. He may not be able to similarly confiscate whatever funds the Haitian gangs have but the ships circling the island will surely intimidate the miscreants and probably bring an end to the turmoil on the western end of Caribbean Hispaniola.
Trudeau has also directed $1.8 million to be spent in stopping drug trafficking across the entire Caribbean and $44.8 million to help fight climate change.
